2. Newsletter - Issue number 1 of the Alumni News of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, published in fall 1978. The six pages are folded like a three-paneled brochure, and the text is printed in black ink, with the exception of the title "alumni news," which is printed in dark blue ink. The newsletter features six black and white photographs, one of a dental student performing clinical work, one of a meeting, and four profile photographs of dental school faculty (Dr. Robert G. Craig, Dr. Sigurd P. Ramfjord, Dr. Franklin W. Smith, and Dr. Donald L. Hellman). Newsletter features include "From Campus to Community: Students Volunteer Services in Extramural Programs," about the Department of Community Dentistry's work with migrant workers; "Dental Materials Program Planned"; "School's Winner Heads to National Table Clinics," about dental student Craig Spangler; "Diet, Nutrition To Be Topic of November Symposium"; "Alumni Visiting Committe Here in May"; "1978 Class Reunion Schedule"; "Class Notes," about the recent reunions of the classes of 1918, 1923, and 1928; "Deaths," which announces recent alumni deaths; notices of dental school faculty awards and honors, retirements, and promotions; and welcome letters from the dean of the School of Dentistry, Dr. William R. 3. Newsletter - Volume 10, number 1 of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry's DENTALUM newsletter (formerly known as "Alumni News"), published in Spring 1993. The newsletter is bound with staples, and the text is printed in black ink, with the exception of the newsletter's title, cover text, and some interior headings, which are printed in red ink. The newsletter contains forty-four black and white photographs, a submission form for news items for the upcoming issue, and a map graphic showing where the Alumni Board of Governors lives. 24 pages, not including the interior back cover, which contains photographs are the map graphic. The cover contains the newsletter's logo, with the "UM" in "DENTALUM" in block stencil letters, and a left-aligned black and white photograph of two individuals working in the biosafety level 3 lab. To the right of the photograph, the following is printed: "Dr. Kauko Makinen's Xylitol Research / Department News / Dentistry Developments Fundraising Update / Michigan's National School Ranking." The newsletter contains thirty-eight black and white photographs, as well as a demographic profile of the incoming class of 1993, a listing of upcoming continuing education courses, and a submission form for news items for the next issue. 28 pages, not including the interior back cover, which also contains text. The front cover contains the newsletters logo with DENTAL printed in solid teal letters and UM printed in block stencil letters outlined in teal.
