5. Box of 24 pages sealed in mylar. Written to and by Dr. Willoughby D. Miller. 14 sleeved and numbered papers, in German, seem a draft of a paper, Uber die Pflege... and the brown envelope it had been stored in 3 page letter in (now) brown ink, marked Oct 16th 190(5?) on University of Michigan College of Dental Surgery stationery, signed N. S. Hoff Describes the duties of the Dean of the dental school, and how that might change for Miller to focus on "the development of the scientific aspect of our curriculum." 4 page manuscript (front and back) in (now) gray ink, begins "the teeth are the most polished and hardest of all the bones, but are the most subject to the diseases that cause great pain and can be dangerous..." 1 additional page of notes in small pencil were sleeved with the 4 page mss. 2 notes - maybe prescriptions or care instructions - in German, both from 1984,on Lucae's Apotheke. One has the name A. Giese at the top of the stationery, one says A. Lucae, both have the same Berlin address. Letter and envelope, W.D. Miller to Dr. Reed, of 32 W. 19th St, New York, 1892 postmarked from Berlin. Thanks "the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Dentistry for the enticing offer they have made me." He says he hopes to devote his work to oral bacteriology and histology. An additional folder needing more attention, perhaps slipped in after the initial catalog entry, contains notes from Dr. Kelsey, posthumous correspondence about Miller, a translation of Miller's writing into English, and three photographs that show an East Indian dentist, in one he poses with a patient, in two, alone.

He gives history on Delta Sigma Delta founding at the University, collecting items of the fraternity and stories of members such as Russell Bunting and L.P. Hall. He talks about Delta Sigma Delta on a national level. Clifford explains the new address system of Ann Arbor, MI and how the numbers of the streets changed over the years and how to find old houses. He also talks about how he donated the Delta Sigma Delta material to a room at the Bentley Historical Library. Clifford explains his early job as a crane mover at a steel plant before becoming an orthodontist and how it helped him create a new way to make an investment.

10. Stanley Kirby is a University of Michigan Alumni. The interview is with Wilma Kirby, wife of the late Stanley Kirby. 11. P.C. Lowery is a University of Michigan Alumni and Faculty. Lowery accounts some stories when he was in his private practice around Southeastern Michigan. He starts to talk about his teaching days at the University. Lowery recalls many faculty members during his time as a student and as faculty. He tells some stories about certain people, including Marcus Ward and Neville Hoff. Kelsey shows him pictures of faculty that they discuss. Lowery accounts his days before dental school and the ways he made money to afford it. He also talks about some of the buildings that have changed since he was a student and some students he went to school with.

17. William E. Brown, Jr. is a University of Michigan Alumni UM DENT 1945. Dr. Brown is interviewed for the bicentennial exhibit on dental education from the student perspective. They begin with the history of Dr. William E. Brown (his father who graduated in 1913.) Brown recalls some classmates including the only female student in his class (Ellen Bates) early faculty members including his mentor Kenneth Easlick, Philip Jay, Mary Crowley and Russell Bunting. He also talked about buildings that were present when he was a student and his memories of the fraternity Delta Sigma Delta. Brown talks about the seperation between dental hygiene students and dental students during dental school. He also talks about the biggest single change in dental education as the change from the electric engine driven hand piece to an air driven air piece. He talks about the building and construciton of the new dental building in the 1960s and the leadership of the Dental School over the years.
